SUNDAY JULY 5 :  PICKING WAS EXCELLENT ON SATURDAY.  ONE GUY GOT 75 LBS IN ONE AND A QUARTER HOURS.....BUT THE RAINY COOL DAY ON SATURDAY KEPT A LOT OF PEOPLE AWAY.  THIS MEANS WE HAVE A LOT OF FIELD TO PICK ON SUNDAY.  PICKING SHOULD BE BERRY GOOD TO EXCELLENT.  PLEASE CALL OR CHECK HERE BEFORE COMING IN THE AFTERNOON IN CASE DEMAND IS CRAZY CRAZY!

SATURDAY JULY 5, 8 AM PICKING SHOULD BE BERRY GOOD TO EXCELLENT!

Friday July 4:  Please call first.  We have one acre (a lot of berries) that is not ripening quickly.  It is full of large almost ripe berries.  We fear we may not have many berries ready on Friday, but Saturday should be good.

July 3:  We had excellent picking today.

Jul 2 :  deleted by accident :)

July 1, 2008  Picking was excellent today, 10 lbs in 10 minutes.  A lot of people with a lot of berries on our fields this morning.  Tomorrow the picking should be very good to excellent.

JUNE 30, 2008: CLOSEDPicking was good for 1 1/2 hours then we ran out of ripe berries again (LOTS of people). We are closed for the day. July 1 has a larger field to pick but will probably be picked out before noon. Come early or phone ahead.  We have lots of berries still to ripen!

JUNE 29, 2008:  Picking was excellent on Sunday, Monday we will be moving into our end field.  Picking of large berries should be pretty darn good if not excellent!  We will be open at 8, and probably won't be picked out!

une 28, 20008  closed for the day, picked outWe set a record and were closed by 9:15. An acre available to pick today, but very few ripe berries in it. Lots of berries to come and with some heat and sun we should soon have alot more available.

June 27, 20008  closed for the day, picked outWe need some sun to speed ripening.  A field we thought was going to be ready today is not.  Please note that picking will be good thru July 16.   We do have berries just not gazillions, most are unripe

June 26, 2008  Today people who picked carefully went out of here with buckets full of beautiful big berries.  Picking tomorrow, Friday, should be good.  It does not take long to fill a bucket when each berry is as big as a plum.  See note below re: leaving white tipped berries for the next person.   Gates open 8 am.

June 25, 2008 We will be open at 8 am daily subject to berry availability.  Today our picker got double the berries she got yesterday.  Picking will pick up and be great next week.  My biggest fear right now is one of our pigs finding the strawberry field.  Yep, tonight after dinner the boys were playing outside and we heard "Daddy, A PIG IS ON THE LAWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"  The five us herded it back to it's pen with it's electrified fence.  Oh man!   Back to strawberries - Last year we had good picking until July 16, so no worries anyone!  We hope to go a little longer this year!   PLEASE PICK RIPE BERRIES ONLY SO YOU ARE HAPPY WHEN YOU GET HOME.  ONLY A BERRY THAT IS COMPLETELY FIRE ENGINE RED IS READY FOR PICKING!!!!!!!!!  NO WHITE TIPS! NO LIGHT ORANGE TIPS!

JUNE 24, 2008  We probably jumped the gun on opening, the warm weather on Saturday seemed to speed things up so we thought Tuesday would be a go.  EARLY SEASON PICKING IS SLOW!  It is a challenge to pick red berries only, so many are almost  ripe.  Strawberries do NOT ripen after picking.  We recommend waiting for a couple of days if you are looking for your winter supply.  Watch here for updates.  Pray for sun.

June 23, 2008:    PICKING WILL BE SLOW.  There are ripe berries out there, but you must look for them.  I will have a better idea how many berries are ripening as Annie, our star picker, heads out each morning to pick.  We are expecting a lot of berries ripe for the weekend...........what's with this weather?????????????

June 22  We will be open Tuesday at 8 am.  Expect early season picking with large ripe king berries!  Except for the fact that each berry you pick will be large, picking will be slow.  See you bright and early!

June 21 Update:  The warm weather today was good to us.  We are seeing more berries starting to ripen.  Most are still white on the ends.  Very very very few are completely ripe, and those that were are in the bellies of the ASH Berry Boys.  We do not have enough to open.  We think we will be open on Tuesday.  Please Please Please check here or call before you come.

June 21, 2008  They are going to be big, they are going to be juicy, they are going to be delicious and they are going to be red......right????  We need some help from Mr. Sun.  There are a lot of berries out there, big ones, and many are starting to redden, but not enough to open.  At this point I think that they are all going to ripen at once and it's going to be crazy, so get ready.  We will make a decision tonight about opening Monday.  I will also put a photo on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Raspberries:  They are looking good, we are hoping for a good crop - it's buzzing out there with lots of berries already formed.  These photos were taken June 14, 2008

June 19, 2008 Rain rain go away!!!!  We are hoping for an opening on Monday.  Our berries are ripening - the ASH Berry boys are picking and eating - and they are delicious!!!  If we don't get some heat picking will be slow.

June 16, 2008  We've got some reddening berries!!!  We are expecting a limited opening on Sunday or Monday, fingers crossed.  CHECK HERE FIRST!!!

June 14, 2008 Photos

June 14,/2008  We've got some big berries forming - some already falling on the straw but they are still 7-10 days away from being ready to pick.    We are told that a late start means a short  season.  Please watch here daily for updates once we open.  See CURRENT CROP INFO for updated photos.  As soon as we have some idea of an opening date it will be here.  Also, if you left our email address with us last year, and I can read your writing, you will be getting an email from us!

The Fraser Valley is predicting a June 23 start - we are hoping for the same.

June 10/2008 Strawberries - Lots of berries and blooms, the warm sun this week will help.  The lower mainland is predicting the crop will be ready there June 20, we may be a few days behind that.  Please watch here and the papers.  Raspberries - about to burst into full bloom, buzzing with bumblebees in there today.  Even our 5 new rows have a bunch of blooms!  Pray for the sun to stay!

June 7 - Strawberries - We have lots of green berries on the plants.  The biggest being about an inch.  There are also lots and lots of blooms still.  We don't know what this means, but keep checking back!  We still expect to open around June 20.....Raspberries - The patch is about to burst into full bloom!  This puts raspberries in the first week of July.....

It's June 2 and Holden was crying for me to light the fire so he would be warm after his bath.  It's cool out!!!  When will the strawberries be ready??  Good question!  We were in full bloom last year mid May, and we are NOT at full bloom yet now.  However, we do have some small (1 cm) green berries on the plants.  I suggest you check back here weekly to see how it's going.  We could have a longer picking season if it doesn't get too hot.  Contrary to popular believe the best berries are formed with cool and cloudy conditions, so we may have a bumper crop!
